SPONGIOTIC DERMATITIS

Spongiotic dermatitis is an umbrella term for a number of dermatoses, including atopic dermatitis and contact dermatitis. Spongiotic dermatitis is a descriptive histological term characterized by the presence of spongiosis (edema of the epidermis) and lymphocytic exocytosis.

Spongiosis: lymphocyte exocytosis (lymphocytes from the dermis climb into the epidermis)
