Dermatology is a medical specialty that deals with the skin, hair, nails, and mucous membranes. Skin problems are common, with 15% of consultations in general practice relating to a skin issue. Although research is rapidly advancing in the areas of molecular medicine and genetics, there is still much to be learned about their pathogenesis.
