  • 1% (gel, lotion)
  • Combination with 0.5-2.5% HC available (lotion, cream, foam, ointment)

Ester anesthetic (sodium channels):

  • Blocks transmission of sensory nerve impulses, anesthetizing cutaneous nerve endings 
  • Hypoalgesic effect on cold pain only (no effect on heat pain)

  • Uremic pruritus
  • Histamine induced itch
  • Notalgia paresthetica 
  • Pruritus ani
  • Nonspecific itch

  • Hypersensitivity

  • ACD (very rare)

  • Effect: 2-4 hours
