Podophyllin is physician applied, in this formulation, the concentration of podophyllin is not standardized. Size treated must be limited to 10 cm2 and less than 0.5 mL per treatment
- Extract from Mayapple plant: active ingredient is podophyllotoxin
- Podophyllotoxin is an antimitotic agent that arrests cells in metaphase by reversibly binding tubulin

- Genital warts
- Inflammation, burning, erythema, erosions
- Cases of death in context of systemic toxicity from overapplication / occlusion have been reported
- Avoid in Pregnancy (mutagenic potential)
- Podophyllin is not generally recommended due to toxicities
- Important not to apply under occlusion or over apply as death has been reported (see Dose section on minimizing toxicity)
- Not to be used on mucosal surfaces/open wounds/sores
