Flucytosine

  • Used together with Amphotericin B

  • Cytosine analogue – interferes with DNA synthesis

  • Second line for almost any severe invasive fungal infection (similar to amphotericin B)

  • Caution if pre-existing conditions / medications leading to cytopenias or bone marrow suppression

  • Neurologic, gastrointestinal, hypokalemia, hypoglycemia, agranulocytosis
