Absence of dermal fibrosis

Superficial diffuse or nodular dermal infiltrate, polymorphous, composed primarily of lymphocytes, but also includes eosinophils, macrophages, multinucleated giant cells, and plasma cells.

Epidermotropism is absent or very minimal.

Epidermis may be normal or may exhibit spongiosis and/or mild vacuolar interface dermatitis

CD3 expression is positive

CD2, CD5, and CD7 expression is normal

It is important to note that CD4 also stains histiocytes, which can make the expression appear more intense.
