Rheumatoid nodule

LEGEND
Necrobiosis is characterized by degeneration of connective tissue, particularly collagen, and the presence of fibrin.
Nodules are located in the deep dermis, near the hypodermis, and may even extend into the hypodermis.
There is an inflammatory infiltrate containing lymphocytes and histiocytes.
- Palisading histiocytes surround a zone of extensive necrobiosis

LEGEND
Necrobiosis
Low cellularity with loss of fibroblast nuclei and intensely eosinophilic staining of degenerated collagen
Palisade surrounding the necrobiosis
