An extremely painful ulcer often located on the lower limbs, caused by long-standing poorly controlled hypertension.
Sclerosis of the intimal layer (intima) of the vascular endothelium
Thickening of the muscular layer (media)
Reversal of the lumen-to-wall ratio, meaning the vascular wall is thickened relative to a small lumen.
